14:15 - 14:55 | Stephen Farley | Trocaire |  | Stephen Farley is the current Development Education Manager for Trócaire, based in Maynooth. Stephen has a degree in Politics, a Masters in History, and is a qualified teacher who taught various subjects for 10 years in Post Primary schools in Ireland and England. He moved home to Ireland and began working for Trócaire in 2015, as Post primary Development Education officer. In recent years, the Development Education team in Trócaire have been working with a variety of people to explore the potential of Games Based Learning to help young people and their educators to explore global justice issues. In 2017 Trócaire developed the first digital Development Education game in Ireland, called 'Project Honduras', exploring the effects of Climate Change in Honduras, and how people and communities cope with these effects. Since then, Trócaire has continued to develop other games exploring a variety of global issues, including fossil fuel extraction, and rainforest destruction. In 2019, Trócaire launched their game s design competition for young people, called Game Changers, and are now in the second year of that competition. |
