Claire DohertyLITHi Everyone!
My name is Claire Doherty- I graduated from Limerick Institute of Technology (Thurles Campus) in November 2014, with a degree in Social & Community Studies. Two years ago, I began working with the Student Support Services team here in the Thurles campus, which has enabled me to continue to progress in my career. I was extremely fortunate to receive a Masters scholarship here with Limerick Institute of Technology in 2017- an extremely exciting opportunity.
The research is based around, an extensive project in collaboration with Limerick Institute of Technology & Youth Work Ireland- Tipperary. Exploring the potential of using multiplayer gaming environments as a means of engaging young people in youth work. Primarily this project will be delivered, using a youth work approach as a means of effectively engaging with participants. On completion of this project there will exist in a 3 dimensional virtual environment, a place called youth town. This town will have the characteristic of any medium sized town & will be adapted for play in the multiplayer online gaming environment similar to MineCraft. The layout of the town, will be planned and executed by the youth participants, involved with this project.
Looking forward to seeing you all soon!
